A recent client asked me to help with what she thought was an Apple password issue involving two iPhones, a MacBook, and business email. As I started asking questions, it became clear there was more going on than just passwords.
I first tested the client’s business email and found that messages couldn’t be delivered. To find out why, we logged into her Wix account to check the status of her business domain. That’s when I noticed the domain was connected through a third-party provider and that the DNS records weren’t pointing correctly, explaining why the business email wasn’t working.
From there, I turned my attention to the Apple devices, where I corrected the Apple Account on one iPhone, restored App Store access, and stopped a MacBook from receiving calls intended for another family member’s iPhone.
This was a good reminder that the issue a client describes isn’t always the issue that’s causing the problem. In this case, what started as an Apple password question turned into troubleshooting Apple devices, a website, business email, and DNS.
